You love warm waters and great beaches? Then search no more, this magical island is just for you! Zanzibar offers the warmest ocean waters I have ever swam in. Just let yourself be spoiled in the turquoise sandy beaches (most enjoyable after an amazing safari experience in mainland).
Essque Zalu Zanzibar: contemporary luxury in a wonderful setting
We stayed at the amazing Essque Zalu boutique, a 5 star resort on the shores of the Indian ocean. The breathtaking ocean views on one side, the lush forest on the other, coupled with wonderful temperatures of 26 to 32 °C, what is there not to love! Ah yes, let’s not forget the warm waters reaching almost 30 degrees, which made this place even more special.
I am a bit of a softie when it comes to chilly waters. Hence it takes me ages to get into the water, even when the temperatures are decent. But this was not the case in Zanzibar, I would happily jump into these waters without hesitation. The same goes for their salt water swimming pool. I am generally not a pool person (yes they are nice for the instagram photos, but I prefer to have a proper swim in the chlorine-free sea/ocean). However, here I was delighted to find out that they actually fill up the pool with salt water. So there you have me, swimming in the pool for many hours at a stretch.
We made ourselves comfortable in one of the hotel’s lovely suites (40 of them in total), but you can also choose a three or four-bedroom villa if necessary.
The hotel itself has been constructed in such a way so that it makes the most of the breath-taking views: the turquoise lagoon, the tranquil ocean, and the lush tropical gardens.
Essque Zalu focuses not only on appearances, but also on substance… Food is lovely in both their restaurants Market Kitchen and the Jetty. At the latter you can also enjoy your favourite drink. Alternatively you can sip your worries away at the pool bar or have them prepare your cocktail at the Baobab bar.
Have you been to Zanzibar? I would love to go back 🙂
